Pro running back Jonathan Taylor returns to alma mater to host camp with former high school coach
DENVER, Aug. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ascent Protein, a sports nutrition company offering clean products for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, recently donated $10,000 to a New Jersey junior youth football program, and its free camp hosted by running back Jonathan Taylor and his high school coach, Montrey Wright. Now in its second year, the one-day camp was attended by 420 athletes from southern New Jersey. In addition to the one-day camp, the funds will also help support the larger Salem Junior Rams Youth Football Program, which provides mentorship, football training and after school activities for youths ages 5-13 years old.
The camp was held at Taylor's former high school, and it hosted aspiring football players who honed their skills as they participated in drills spanning from basic agility to position-specific learning. The camp provides the opportunity for kids to meet and learn from their hometown football hero before the 2022 season kicks off and is a wonderful opportunity for Taylor, his former coaches, teammates, and current players.
Supporting the community he was raised in is extremely important to Taylor. "Coming home and giving back to my former high school is almost indescribable," said Taylor. "I love teaching the kids skills to improve their game while still having fun. I want these kids to know that whatever you want to do in life, you need to work hard to be successful."
Montrey Wright, Taylor's former high school coach, continues to coach at Salem High School and is thrilled to have his star running back return for the camp. "Taylor is a prime example of the success that comes with hard work. He shows the kids what it means to overcome challenges and build confidence. We are grateful that he chooses to come home and support the next generation, giving back to his hometown. We plan to continue this annually," said Wright.
