ASQ Education Conference: Evolving Education through Innovation and Quality Improvement
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (PRWEB) September 21, 2016 -- Educators around the world face a similar challenge to ensure that their students learn the 21st century skills they need to succeed.
Sharing best practices for achieving quality in education processes and developing engaged, life-long learners is the aim of the ASQ Quality Education Conference and Workshop to be held Nov. 11–13, at The Westin Houston, Memorial City, in Houston, Texas.
ASQ’s Education Division aims to reach global educators and professionals with a focus on K-12, higher education, workforce development, and science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM.
This year’s theme “Evolving the Education Experience” focuses on the evolving need for education in all areas. Attendees will take away strategies and tools for incorporating continuous improvement and innovative ideas to enhance the educational experience. The conference features the following keynote speakers:
• William Troy is CEO of ASQ following a 38-year U.S. Army career from which he retired as Lieutenant General (three stars). Troy will share his ideas for improving our education system.
• Dr. John Dew is senior vice chancellor for student services and administration at Troy University. The title of his talk is “Ground Rules for Quality Practitioners in Higher Education.”
• Dr. Jay Marino currently serves as superintendent of schools in Antioch School District 34 (in the Chicago area). Dr. Marino will deliver a powerful presentation entitled “Continuous Improvement through Teamwork, Collaboration and Shared Leadership.”
• Dr. Terri T. Showers is a STEM educator with more than 25 years of experience in teaching secondary science. Dr. Showers' insightful talk is “STEM: a Feast for the Senses.”

Educators, professionals and students can take part in any of the 30 concurrent sessions and five half-day workshops. Session topics include:
• #buildGREATschools — Ronald Davis, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, Mt. Lebanon School District, Pittsburgh, Pa.
• Baldrige Without Tears: A Roadmap to Success — Walter Garrett, Special School District of Saint Louis County Saint Louis University, Florissant, Mo.
• Engaging Students to Increase Learning — Bob Hoglund, Bob Hoglund Inc., Tempe, Ariz., and Cindy McClung, The School District of Lee County, Fort Myers, Fla.
• The Anatomy of Service Excellence in Healthcare — Masahiro Ito, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, N.Y.
“This year, in addition to our continuing efforts to bring methods, best practices and lessons learned to the QECW attendees in K-12, higher education and workforce development, we are partnering with the ASQ Healthcare Division to provide an even wider perspective to quality education in our daily living,” said Belinda Chavez, ASQ Education Division Chair. “We hope that all attendees will leave the 2016 QECW with tools and ideas that they can implement immediately.”
