This patent has profound implications for addressing exponentially-growing data transfer demands. Spectrum demand has been further amplified by COVID-19 as people are forced to shelter-in-place and demand for remote learning, online gaming, streaming video, telemedicine, and video conferencing puts increasing stress on communication networks.
This patent protects a fundamentally new technology, Instantaneous Spectral Analysis (ISA), which enables the transfer of much more data through a given amount of bandwidth (frequency range) than was previously thought possible. It does so by using advanced mathematics to fully exploit the capabilities of a continuously non-stationary spectrum, bypassing an implicit assumption in classical channel capacity theory that the spectrum is at least approximately stationary.
