Athena Software Extends ISO/IEC 27001 Certification
WATERLOO, Ontario (PRWEB) August 07, 2018 -- Athena Software’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards of data security has been reinforced with the company’s ISO/IEC 27001:2013 recertification, effective June 20, 2018.
Athena’s case management software application, Penelope, is used by a worldwide customer base that includes governments, military departments, universities, and hundreds of nonprofits and social service organizations, all of whom store confidential health information in the cloud-based application.
As such, Athena’s attention to the importance of data security and privacy practices that meet the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) global standard for information security positions it as a leader and trusted partner to human service organizations around the world.
“Our customers in the human services sector rightly demand the maximum level of security to protect the highly sensitive data with which they are entrusted,” said Geoff Bellew, CEO of Athena Software. “Our continued commitment to meeting the rigorous standards of ISO certification fortifies the importance we place on upholding this trust, and on adhering to the highest standards of privacy and security for our customers around the world.”
The company’s commitment to privacy and security of information extends to the clients of their customers as well.
“There is an increasing need for social service organizations to provide greater convenience and access for their clients – for example, being able to register for services online or fill out forms on their phones,” said Diane Stanley-Horn, Chief Marketing Officer for Athena Software. “Using complementary product modules such as Engage and Add.Me for Penelope extend this growing demand for mobility and remote access without compromising data security. This, coupled with our relentless dedication to data security provides our customers and their clients with confidence and peace of mind in the knowledge that their information is in safe hands.”
The renewal of the ISO certification that Athena first achieved in 2016 means that the company’s business operations were once again thoroughly assessed and approved by the independent certification company QAS International to meet ISO standards and guidelines with respect to Athena’s information security management system (ISMS).
ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is the global standard for Information Security Management including all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organization’s risk management framework.
Athena’s ISO/IEC 27001 ISMS is comprised of a comprehensive set of policies and procedures and risk management and auditing frameworks based on best practices in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.
