Atlanta Institute for Facial Aesthetic Surgery Offers New In-Office Procedure to Revitalize Aging Skin
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) June 11, 2015 -- Dr. Pradeep Sinha, Atlanta facial plastic surgeon of Atlanta Institute for Facial Aesthetic Surgery, is pleased to announce the latest addition to their aesthetic lineup: a new minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure called micro-needling. The procedure uses tiny steel needles to puncture the skin, which stimulates the body to produce collagen and elastin, restoring the skin’s firmness and elasticity.
“It is a very safe skin treatment, resulting in a more youthful appearance and healthier-looking skin with lasting results,” says Pradeep K. Sinha, MD, PhD, FACS, a double board certified surgeon specializing in cosmetic and functional surgery of the head and neck, and founder of the Atlanta Institute for Facial Aesthetic Surgery.
Micro-needling can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions. It can reduce fine lines and wrinkles, saggy skin, acne and surgical scars, stretch marks, brown spots and pore size, as well as improve overall skin tightening, tone and texture. Micro-needling offers similar benefits as facial injectables, laser resurfacing, dermabrasion and strong chemical peels, only without the high cost and discomfort, and with a shorter recovery time.
Micro-needling is performed in the doctor’s office. Patients with relatively mild skin issues may require just a single treatment; others with deeper wrinkles or more intense scarring may need three or more treatments, spaced about four weeks apart. A single treatment session generally takes about 30 minutes.
“It is a completely natural procedure, using the skin’s own powers of rejuvenation,” Dr. Sinha says. “A topical anesthetic is used, and most patients do not feel any pain. Healing time is usually short—no more than 24 hours—and there is little risk of bruising, infection, discoloration or other complications.”
Most patients see visible improvements to their skin within a few days after the first treatment. Results will continue to improve up to six months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
While micro-needling is very effective at treating mild to moderate scarring and signs of aging, not everyone is a good candidate. “Your skin should be in good overall condition, and you should be free of major health problems,” Dr. Sinha says. “If you have deep wrinkles or severe scarring, you may not be a good candidate for this procedure.”
