Attorney Annie E. Andrews Receives Emerging Leader Award
South Carolina Women Lawyers Association Selects Steinberg Law Firm Lawyer
CHARLESTON, S.C., Sept. 30, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Attorney Annie E. Andrews, an associate at the Steinberg Law Firm, has received the 2021 Emerging Leader award from the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association® (SCWLA).
Founded in 1993, SCWLA brings female lawyers together across the state to enhance the status, influence, and effectiveness of women lawyers. The organization now holds over 900 members and an active 18-member Board of Directors.
This award comes as an honor to Annie Andrews and the Steinberg Law Firm as only one woman in South Carolina is chosen each year.
A requirement of accepting this award is participation in Leadership South Carolina, South Carolina's oldest statewide leadership program established in 1979 by the Governor's Office. Their mission is to select and train influential community leaders so they may serve on statewide boards and commissions, run for public office, and pursue solutions that positively impact our state.
In acceptance of the award, Annie Andrews stated, "I am honored to receive SCWLA's 2021 Emerging Leader award and grateful for the acknowledgement of choices I have made as an attorney, and also as a working mom. Throughout my career, I have tried my best to advocate for those who did not have a voice, which at times required taking on entire institutions and power structures. I hope to use this new leadership role to amplify other women lawyers across South Carolina."
Annie Andrews joined the Steinberg Law Firm team in 2020 and currently practices in the areas of nursing home neglect, civil rights, and personal injury. She earned her B.A. at the University of South Carolina and then went on to study law at the Charleston School of Law. Before joining Steinberg Law Firm, Annie worked as a Trial Attorney with the Charleston County Public Defender's Office. She has been recognized by Charleston Business Magazine as a 2021 female leader in business and has received awards from the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division and the South Carolina Public Defender Association. A former graduate of the South Carolina Bar's Leadership Academy, Annie currently serves on the Board of Directors for Charleston Legal Access and on the South Carolina Bar's Elder Law committee.
The Steinberg Law Firm was founded in 1927 by Irving Steinberg, who advocated for all injured people and was instrumental in getting workers' compensation laws on the books in South Carolina.
