AU10TIX: Personal Data Entry and Id Authentication Prove Key Barriers to the Development of Mobile Financial Services
Nicosia, Cyprus (PRWEB) July 27, 2013 -- ID verification is an “overlooked and key component for mcommerce”, says a recent article in Mobile Marketer: “…mobile device users know the difficulty of tedious data entry with clumsy fingers on a touch screen or tiny keypad. In fact, difficulty entering personal data is a main reason that users abandon the mobile transaction” (http://www.mobilemarketer.com/cms/opinion/columns/15782.html). This observation only adds to a growing body of evidence that the customer behavior in the mobile interfaces is different in various critical respects then that in the front-end and online (desktop) interfaces.
Mobify statistics from earlier this month add some quantitative indicators of the “acquired impatience” of mobile device users:
• 30% of mobile shoppers abandon if the experience is not mobile optimized
• 41% turn to competitors after poor mobile experiences.
• 50% expect transactions to be easier on mobile then they are offline or on a desktop (Source: IBM)

These statistics echo similar findings that point at two main barriers to the development of mobile financial services and commerce in general: Time and hassle.
Till recently, online service providers could tackle these barriers by asking customers to scan their ID or take a photo of it using a smartphone or tablet camera. This option does relieve customers from the hassle of typing in the data, but does not tackle the time issue effectively. If the customer do not key in the data then someone else needed to do that, and that someone is typically a costly, slow and often ineffective back-office. With entirely manual back-office processing, not only does response time stay slow but a significant cost factor also comes into play.
AU10TIX, a subsidiary of ICTS International N.V., is a forerunner of multi-channel ID authentication and record generation. The company introduced its standard-setting online BOS solution already in 2012. The AU10TIX BOS handles the authentication and conversion to digital records of ID documents images. Such images may be produced by customers using common devices such as smartphone or tablet cameras, office scanners, webcams, etc.
“Unlike standard solutions, BOS offers advanced image screening and optimization functionalities”, says Ron Atzmon, AU10TIX’s MD: “AU10TIX BOS is completely automated and does not require customer intervention as other solutions do. The system is already at work, helping major service providers in financial services and other online services to speed up customer qualification and onboarding, save back-office overhead and help protect against identity fraud”.
