Audra, a dedicated single mother of four, continues her courageous battle against cancer with unwavering strength and determination. Audra, whose name fittingly means 'Noble Strength,' embodies this virtue daily as she courageously battles cancer while caring for her four children.
HOISINGTON, Kan., Nov. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Audra's journey began in August 2023, when a routine MRI following a car accident revealed a Stage 2 oligodendroglioma. Since then, her life has taken an unexpected turn as she navigates medical treatments and the challenges of being there for her children.
Over the summer, a follow-up scan revealed that her second tumor, which had previously been stable, was now growing. After a consultation at KU Med on October 7, specialists determined that surgery to remove Audra's second tumor was too risky due to its location. The diagnosis has since progressed to Stage 3, leading Audra to begin aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Hays Med. These treatments, scheduled five days a week, require her to travel an hour each way, further complicating her daily life. Her mother is assisting in the travel and care for her children during this time.
Despite these challenges, Audra's love for her children remains her driving force. Drake (14) balances football and debate with a bright future ahead, Grant (10) excels on his travel baseball team, Lena (8) has embraced basketball and academic success, and Bennett (7) recently celebrated his birthday, creating cherished memories with his mom who arrived home from HaysMed just in time to see him blow out the candles.
The community is rallying around Audra, offering prayers, well-wishes, and support through her GoFundMe campaign. Donations help offset medical expenses, travel costs, and caring for her children. While Audra's local community in Hoisington, Kansas, has been incredible, the recent progression to Stage 3 has increased her need for broader support. Together, we can help ease the financial and emotional burden on Audra and her family during this critical time.
