Author and Former Cardiothoracic Patient Discusses Physicians' Role in Quelling Patient Anxiety in New Medical Memoir
Michael Dymant's 'Heartbeat' discusses soothing bedside manner and his patient experience undergoing two major cardio-related surgeries and his subsequent struggle.
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y., July 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Michael Dymant has recently released his new medical memoir, "Heartbeat", a collection of journal entries and other memories taking readers on his journey through two major cardiac surgeries to repair aortic aneurisms, a condition marked by an enlargement of the aorta.
Dymant shares his experience of being thrown into the medical system, losing control of his life, and struggling with the physical, mental and emotional challenges of his illness. His incredibly personal and vulnerable narrative offers insights into his surgeries and recoveries, acknowledging the support provided by his wife, nurses, and caregivers.
"It is my hope that the book helps so many people," Dymant remarked, "from nurses and caregivers, who are often the glue keeping patients from falling apart; doctors, some of who have my eternal gratitude; and those who are facing surgeries of their own. I came out whole and am having a life again and so will you!"
One Amazon reviewer describes "Heartbeat": "I highly recommend this book for all medical practitioners, nurses and hospital staff that are charged with the responsibility of caring for patients. It is an honest, insightful, and informative account of his time during and after both surgeries and the therapy and support he received from numerous people that made the journey significantly easier."
"Heartbeat" presents a closer look at the medical world from a patient's perspective, providing much-needed insight on doctors and their bedside manner, the crucial role nurses play in a patient's healing and the patient's responsibility to take charge of their healing journey.
