LONDON, June 17, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In "Funeesha and the Fun Queen," author Chad Williamson emphasizes feeling good, having fun, following passions and being one's true self in everyday life. In the first of five books in the series, readers are introduced to Funeesha, a bright, intelligent and happy five-year-old girl who does not have a care in the world besides having fun. The series represents children of color and highlights the family's Jamaican roots throughout.
Funeesha lives in a small apartment on the northwest side of London called Bridgestone with her very busy and hardworking Jamaican parents who never seem happy and hardly ever smile. Her mum, a schoolteacher, always grumbles about how much work she has to do and the little time she has for herself. Her dad is a talented but struggling musician and complains most of the time about how hard life can be.
One day, Funeesha is upset because her parents are too busy to play with her and she is missing her grandfather who recently passed. As she was reciting the phrase her grandad taught her, "feeling good is number one; life is supposed to be so much fun," something magical happens. Queen of the Funearians from the Funtartica universe appears and introduces herself and tells Funeesha that feeling good is important and that many forget that life is supposed to be fun. The two new friends go on a fun imaginary trip to the park and Funeesha has the best time. The Fun Queen also reminds Funeesha that even though her grandfather is no longer here, he is always watching over her.
"My six-year-old daughter inspired me to start my children's book series," said Williamson. "I want to remind children and parents alike of the importance of feeling good and having fun in life. As a person of color, I want children of color to see themselves represented more often in children's books as there is a lack of diversity in the market."
Children and parents alike will be joyed by the universal messages presented throughout this charming children's tale. Themes of feeling good, having fun, diversity and dealing with a loss will resonate with many. "Funeesha and The Fun Queen" is the perfect children's story to add to young reader's bookshelves.
