Author Paints Colorful Picture of JFK Assassination Conspirator in Debut Historical Novel
In his new novel, an in-depth portrayal of the life of an enigmatic New Orleans man named David Ferrie, David T. Beddow explores the likelihood that the history-changing death of President Kennedy was the result of a criminal plot.
WASHINGTON, September 09, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Attorney and author David T. Beddow has released his compelling historical fiction book about David Ferrie – a brilliant and peculiar man who was suspected to have been involved in a criminal conspiracy, originally hatched in New Orleans, to assassinate President John F. Kennedy in Dallas.
In "A Ferrie Tale," Beddow twines together facts and plausible speculations to flesh out Ferrie's extraordinary life as a pilot, scientist, Catholic priest, Castro fighter and agent of the mob and illustrates his many layers of complicated and deep-seated personality traits, many of them in constant conflict. Beddow's debut novel features an eclectic cast of historical figures including Lee Harvey Oswald, Jack Ruby, Frank Sinatra, and JFK's alleged paramour Judith Campbell. A sophisticated Cuban exile named Sergio Arcacha Smith plays an important and surprising role. The musical city of New Orleans provides the drumbeat to the story.
"JFK was a hero in my small hometown, having visited it in 1960 during the presidential primary; my father met him on the courthouse steps. I was five years old," Beddow said. "I remember how I learned of his assassination like it was yesterday – and, at eight years old, thought things were fishy when Jack Ruby killed Oswald two days after the assassination. I knew there was more to the story, and this book is an exploration of that."
"A Ferrie Tale" presents a new, well-researched take on the JFK assassination, which has been the subject of much scrutiny and wild theories in the more than half century since this historic event. Beddow identifies hard facts that lend additional credibility to the likelihood of a conspiracy. He also describes how, late in David Ferrie's truncated life, he became the victim of a thoughtless new investigation of the assassination by local District Attorney Jim Garrison, a narcissistic man who mistakenly and tragically thought he was a "stable genius."
"Beddow paints on a vast canvas: Sinatra and Elvis, surly mob bosses, Castro and revolution at our back door, philandering and shenanigans in JFK's Camelot, to name but a few of the brighter colors," a reader wrote about "A Ferrie Tale" in a five-star review on Amazon. "And the improbable character in the boiling center is a shambling, flawed wreckage of humanity – sometimes priest, pilot, scientist, thug – the dark and troubled David Ferrie. Even the jaded reader will be jarred and beguiled by the crackle of Beddow's rich dialogue and swiftly moving story."
