L. Malungu debuts her first book of the Marcus Series – "Marcus King of the Dandelions"
MACAO SAR, China, June 26, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author L. Malungu announces her new juvenile fiction book that is different from others within the genre due to two aspects: the main protagonist and the intentional use of rich vocabulary.
In "Marcus King of the Dandelions" by L. Malungu, readers are invited to explore and experience the natural world through the eyes of the protagonist, Marcus. Marcus is a five-year-old boy who is curious about the world around him and shares his ability for analytical thinking and creativity throughout the story.
"I have never forgotten how my own love for reading was ignited, at the age of five during my first visit to the school library," Malungu said. "The librarian whispered in my ear – 'Reading is magic and opens the door to everything and anything you want to learn!'"
The goal of this story is to ignite an initial spark for reading and to unlock the power of literacy within its readers. "The act of reading is the process of making sense of abstract symbols to understand meaning," said Malungu. "That said, the syllabic highlighting of text provides young readers greater ease in applying phonetic understanding to decode and pronounce new vocabulary."
It's use of rich vocabulary is deliberate and intended to awaken and excite the mind of the young reader.
"I believe that nurturing literacy and a love of reading are essential keys to unlocking creativity and is the magical path of lifelong learning," said Malungu.
