Author Thomas Frank Christian's New Book "Thomas the Doubter" Goes Behind Closed Doors of the Catholic Church and Into the Life of A Doubting Thomas
Recent release "Thomas the Doubter" from Page Publishing author Thomas Frank Christian follows the writer from his childhood on a farm, to his adolescence and young adulthood in the seminary, through his departure from the clergy and his entrance into lay life and public service.
TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Thomas Frank Christian, a criminal justice specialist who ran incarceration alternative programs and is the recipient of a PhD from Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice, has completed his new book "Thomas the Doubter". Beginning with his childhood and teenage years, Christian takes readers along the events that shaped his decision to leave the priesthood.
"I served as a Roman Catholic priest for six years and then resigned because I did not agree with obligatory celibacy," Thomas said about his life. "For fifteen years, I was the state director of the Community Dispute Resolution Centers Program for the New York State Unified Court System, administrating criminal, civil, and family cases."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Thomas Frank Christian's eye-opening work shows readers the transformation of a young man influenced by a kind priest to join the seminary, to a twenty-three-year-old who is sexually assaulted by his roommate in the major seminary. This, and other events, did not quell his resolve to complete his training. Thomas Frank Christian was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on February 2, 1963 and served in three parishes in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Archdiocese. The book has a section on why there are so many cases of clerical abuse around the world. He includes a letter he sent to Pope Francis suggesting what the Pope , hierarchy and lay people can do to bring the Roman Catholic Church into the 21st century. After he resigned as a priest, he went into full-time work as a criminal justice specialist serving crime victims and offenders in four states.
Now married with three children and five grandchildren, Thomas Frank Christian reflects on the path that brought him to where he is today and posits arguments surrounding church doctrine, and society as a whole.
Readers who wish to get a look behind the curtain of the Catholic Church can purchase "Thomas the Doubter" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
