“Kindred Spirits” from Christian Faith Publishing author Bill Hendrix is the story of a young woman who begins a journey across the United States in search of the “truth” and is joined by a diverse group of twelve men, a demographic cross section of male America, with one free-spirited friend, the wife of their impulsive leader. As they are drawn into the odyssey by an eye-opening series of angelic encounters and incredible coincidences, it is revealed that they have kindred spirits, talents, gifts, and callings to the original twelve disciples of Jesus Christ.

“Kindred Spirits”: a Christian story imagining Christ’s disciples as relatable, modern individuals, allowing readers to catch a glimpse the potential saint in us all. “Kindred Spirits” is the creation of published author Bill Hendrix, a Vietnam veteran and retired entrepreneur who enjoys writing and gardening in his free time.

Bill shares, “The inspiration for the title of ‘Kindred Spirits’ comes from Jesus when he asked what he thought of his cousin, John the Baptist’s ministry. In Matthew 11:14 he says, “And if you will receive it, this is Elias (or Elijah in Greek) which was for to come.” In footnotes from Dakes Annotated Bible Concordance Regarding this. We find in Luke 1:17 Jesus says, “And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias,” and in John 1:21 we find he was not Elias in person, but a kindred spirit.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Bill Hendrix’s new book is an engaging debut novel offering a view of the biblical disciples not only as the apostolic saints they became, which has the tendency to deify and distance them and their accomplishments from one’s reach, but as real people today.
