Recent release "Tales from Esan Land (The Family Companion)" from Page Publishing author Jackson Akpasubi is a compilation of evocative folk tales passed down through many generations of Esan and Bini culture.
NEW YORK, Dec. 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jackson Akpasubi is a chairman of Africa United Journalism Awareness Center, a Nigeria-based NGO, the CEO of CITYAMERICA, former news director of TVC News in Lagos, publisher of The Globe and African Journalism Review, and father of three grown sons, who now lives with his family in Atlanta, Georgia. He has published his new book "Tales from Esan Land (The Family Companion)": the first volume in a series of folklore collections drawn by the indigenous traditions in what is now southern Nigeria.
The author shares, "As the names suggests, 'Tales from Esan Land' is a collection of tales and legends originating and traditional among the tribe of the people of Esan in the famous Bini Kingdom, south of Nigeria. It may be folk, but it forms part of the oral tradition of the common people and beliefs passed on traditionally whether real or based on superstition.
Timeless and placeless, as it has always been from our forebears, the stories contained here are priceless builders of sound morals and humanity. These are told by parents and adults to children especially at moonlit evenings in most African villages to teach the history of their people as well as how to behave responsibly. This little book, therefore, is my contribution to create a sense of unity of my cultural group of the peoples of Edo. Apart from reinforcing Esan people's identity, which telling of tales from generation to generation does, this book is a bridge between the past, the present, and future—a window for the children of the world in this era of globalization. It's my hope that children all over the world, no matter where they domicile, will find this interesting."
Published by Page Publishing, Jackson Akpasubi's engrossing book is a fascinating anthology for anyone interested in the cultures and peoples of Africa.
Readers who wish to experience this engaging work can purchase "Tales from Esan Land (The Family Companion)" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
