Jessica Goodsell, a lifelong Missourian, has completed her new book “Mystical Wonderland”: a gripping and potent modern-day retelling of “Alice in Wonderland” that follows descendants of the famous characters as Wonderland faces disaster.
“Now this is a story. Not just any story though. No. This is a Wonderland story. And okay, yeah, I know what y’all are thinking. ‘Alice in Wonderland’? Hasn’t that been done to death? The answer to that question is yes. Of course it’s been done to death. But this is an unwritten story of Wonderland. This isn’t a story about Alice or the ever-so-famous Hatter. This is a story about the many great-grandsons of Alice and the daughter of the Mad Hatter. This is a story of what Wonderland has turned into since Alice’s adventure there,” writes Jessica Goodsell. “My book is in a modern-day setting, and I put my own unique spin on things. So now, I would like you to read carefully as I take you on a journey…into Wonderland.”
Published by Page Publishing, Jessica Goodsell’s fantastical tale follows one of Alice many descendants, Drake Taylor, living in modern-day New York. Drake finds himself in a modernized Wonderland, where his great-grandmother Alice found herself on her famous adventure. While in Wonderland, Drake meets Rosie Hatter, who goes as R.H. and is the daughter of the Mad Hatter, one of the many storied characters Alice met on her trip to Wonderland.
In Wonderland, R.H. is ambivalent to have any descendant in Wonderland. However, the future of Wonderland is in danger, and Drake, R.H., and their friends must work together to save Wonderland from its imposing doom. On their journey to save this magical land, the group encounters many familiar faces who Alice experienced on her adventure into Wonderland.
Readers who wish to experience this gripping work can purchase “Mystical Wonderland” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
