About the Author
Writing under a pseudonym, Laxmi Lall migrated to Australia in the early 1970s with a young daughter. Soon after, she became a single parent, experienced poverty, racist abuse and sexism. Starting in a humble job, she reinvented herself, studying at night earning two master's degrees and went on to work at an executive level for Australian publicly listed and international companies developing cultural change and diversity programs. She went on to start two businesses after leaving corporate life, continuing her work to support and empower women. She is passionate about social issues relating to women's rights, domestic violence and women from diverse ethnic communities, working and advocating for social change across the community and political landscape. Lall is a member of various advisory groups on women's rights, women in business, older women and women from the Asian subcontinent.
