Avid Collector Announces His Search for Original Silkscreen 1965 Vintage Doctor Strange Family Dog Concert Posters
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- Avid collector Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters announces his search for original silkscreen 1965 Vintage Doctor Strange Family Dog concert posters. This artwork announced the start of the 1960s San Francisco psychedelic music scene. Hawley states, "The Family Dog put on three dance concerts before opening of the Avalon Ballroom. These concerts lead to an explosion of music in the BayArea. It was a music free-for-all where bands played some of the most memorable music of the time in front of live audiences. Jefferson Airplane integrated trippy light shows with their music. This music was later know as psychedelic rock. This name has stuck for 50 years."
Hawley adds, "Posters and handbills were made for all three tributes. A cardboard boxing style poster was designed by Alton Kelley for the Dr. Strange concert. Also, Marty Balland of the Jefferson Airplane produced several hand-made silkscreens for the show. The silkscreens are larger than the Kelley concert poster and were directly painted upon with a few extra touches. The Charlatans, the Jefferson Airplane, the Marbles, the Great Society are featured on the poster. Hawley is willing to pay $10,000 cash for an original silkscreen version of the Vintage Doctor Strange Family Dog poster and $5,000 cash for the cardboard version. He is also interested in purchasing the Ming and Sparkle Plenty Tribute silkscreens. Please call 310-346-1965 or email andrew (at) vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.
