SALIDA, Colo., Nov. 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Laurel McHargue, author of the award-winning series Waterwight, the award-winning short story collection Dark Ebb: Grim Tales, and her latest book, Peace by Piece: 10 Lessons from a Jigsaw Puzzle!--co-authored with Nadine Collier--will be available to autograph her books at The Book Haven in Salida on December 5th from 2-5 p.m.
"Personally autographed books make great gifts for every occasion," said McHargue, "and The Book Haven in Salida has quite a variety for every reading level."
One of McHargue's goals is to publish books in as many genres as possible. "As much as I love reading different genres, I also love the challenge of creating stories with different moods and points of view."
A former Army Officer and former Language Arts teacher, McHargue now spends her time writing, hosting the podcast Alligator Preserves, gardening, puzzling, and raising ducks. "Never in my life did I see myself as a duck wrangler, but now I can't imagine a day without them. My five Khaki Campbell ducks make me laugh every day, and now they're gifting us with daily fresh eggs!"
She plans to write a children's book about her ducks someday, but for now, she is working on a new science fiction series. "It'll be set in the future and will explore what I learned as a cadet at West Point and my years of service in the Army from a different perspective. I'm really excited about this new challenge!"
McHargue is also excited about the upcoming launch of her first audiobook. "I kept my co-author, Nadine Collier, trapped in my recording closet until she narrated all of her parts. Our book Peace by Piece: 10 Lessons from a Jigsaw Puzzle! will be available in audiobook format soon!"
"Also, Nadine and I are offering the gift of a free Kindle download of our e-book from November 25-29. If you enjoy it, you may want to share the paperback with a friend!"
McHargue would like to remind everyone planning to visit to follow public health guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks. "Let's get through this holiday season safely--and with some new books!"
