Celebrating its 75th anniversary, Otto Construction looks back on its legacy and forward to even more signature projects
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 31, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Otto Construction is celebrating 75 years of "Changing The Landscape" by highlighting decades of community involvement, initiatives and heritage projects locally, as well as previewing key projects in process.
John F. Otto began his construction company in 1947 out of the back of a pickup truck with little more than ability and enthusiasm to his name. A rough and tough construction guy who did business with a handshake, he had a clear vision of what he wanted: a company with a core of skilled professionals that could consistently deliver high-quality construction at a competitive price.
Today, under the leadership of Otto's granddaughter, Allison, Otto is marking its 75th anniversary as a company that creates award-winning multimillion dollar facilities throughout Northern and Central California, but still follows "the Otto Way" John F. Otto implemented at the beginning.
"My grandfather established these core values that we continue with today: hard work, honesty, integrity and compassion for others," said Allison Otto. "Through 'The Otto Way,' we've been changing the landscape for 75 years and will continue to do so for the next 75."
Otto has a proud legacy of facilities the company has built over the years, including Fairytale Town, the KVIE studios, Sacramento Zoo and the Terminal A parking structure at Sacramento International Airport. It's building on that legacy today with high-profile projects such as the SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity in Sacramento (MOSAC); the California State University, Monterey Bay, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science building; and the California State Lottery Headquarters in Sacramento. Most recently, the company has received impressive accolades for its work, including a AGC Constructor of the Year award and a ULI Vision Honors Awards for MOSAC and a Most Admired CEO award from the Sacramento Business Journal.
Looking forward, Otto has new projects that span from the Pamela Mari Da Vinci Tech Hub building in Davis to an expansion at Fairytale Town, as well as facilities at Florin High School for its agriculture, culinary and engineering career technical education classes. With offices in Sacramento and Monterey, Otto added that the company today is stronger than it's ever been, and that it is continuing to grow and evolve by learning new construction methods, leveraging technology and embracing diversity and inclusion.
