Backyard Travel Release New Tour: Sail the Seas of Flores & Komodo
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- The ten-day, nine-night tour begins on the island of Flores which is home to some of Indonesia’s most stunning natural scenery. During their time on the island, travelers will have the chance to scale two majestic mountains, Mt. Kelimutu and Mt. Inerie to experience sublime sunrises from their picturesque peaks.
While in Flores, travelers will also have the chance to do some cultural exploration around the villages that surround the mountains and dot the magnificent landscapes below. Travelers will make stops at the hill tribe villages of Kowanara, Moni, Soar, Gurusina, Bena, Wogo, Aimere, and Ruteng Puu – all unique in their own way with differing architectural styles to admire.
Travelers will also visit various community projects such as the Wolosoko Cocoa Plantation (run by a group of local farmers), the Bou Sama Sama Women’s Cooperative (an organization that provides work for skillful Ikat weavers) and be dazzled by the fascinating Lingko rice paddies, nicknamed the ‘spider web’ fields due to their fascinating design.
After six days on Flores the tour takes to the seas with three nights aboard a private phinisi boat which will whisk travelers around the sublime islands of Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nights will be spent anchored in the bays just off the islands of Loh Liang, Rinca and Kanewa while days will be passed trekking through the uninhabited islands on the search for many of the unique indigenous species that can only be found in this region.
“Some consider Indonesia’s 17,500 islands a part of the great unknown that still remain in the world,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “Many of the islands are protected against any kind of development, which makes them highly sought after destinations for travelers who crave a touch of the unknown. Flores and the Komodo National Park are certainly destinations that satisfy that urge, and we hope this exquisite tour will help more travelers realize the wonders that Indonesia offers.”
