ATLANTA, Nov. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The inaugural meeting of Recognized BACnet Testing Organizations from around the world was held October 8, 2018 at The University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. This is the first time representatives from the various testing organizations, including attendees from North America, Europe and India, met face-to-face.
The Recognized BACnet Testing Organizations are organizations recognized by BACnet International to conduct rigorous, industry standard testing to confirm products' conformance to the BACnet standard as part of the BTL Certification Program. Products successfully completing testing can apply for a Certificate of Conformance, a BTL (BACnet Testing Laboratories) Listing and the right to use the BTL Mark on their products.
"These testing organizations play a large role in ensuring that products on the market claiming to support the BACnet protocol do so correctly," said Andy McMillan, president and managing director of BACnet International. "Searching the BTL Listings and looking for the BTL Mark are the best ways for users to verify that a product has been independently tested and validated. The testing process itself provides suppliers a powerful methodology of finding and eliminating implementation errors before a product reaches the market. This process reduces system integration time and money for all parties."
Discussions at the testing organization meeting covered process improvements for the global certification process and enhanced report formats to provide users with more information, among other topics. A subsequent meeting in Germany in the Fall of 2019 is being planned.
