BallerTV acquires FieldVision to scale its live, amateur sports coverage
With this acquisition, BallerTV will be able to accelerate their scaling efforts, further expand into field sports like soccer and offer high quality automated video production to its current sports.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- BallerTV, the leader in live amateur sports coverage, announced that it has acquired FieldVision, creators of a compact, mobile and fully autonomous solution for live-streaming sports.
FieldVision leverages artificial intelligence and computer vision to autonomously film any team sport. FieldVision's technology combines player tracking, ball tracking, and game context recognition to automate the production and livestream of any game. This proprietary software coupled with FieldVision's first-of-its-kind autonomous camera, offers portability and cellular connectivity, making it possible to distribute its premium content quickly and effectively.
"We are thrilled to have Kav, Andy, and the entire FieldVision team joining BallerTV," said BallerTV Co-Founder and Co-CEO Aaron Hawkey. "With the rapidly increasing volume of games we broadcast, we need technologies that can scale with us. FieldVision is the only company that has been able to solve autonomous live-streaming of sports in a small, energy efficient package."
BallerTV has reached an unprecedented scale, providing full live video coverage of more than 250,000 games since 2017, and has broadcasted as many as 17,000 live games in a given weekend. BallerTV currently covers men's and women's basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, and football, all of which can be watched live or any time on the mobile-friendly website. With this acquisition, BallerTV will be able to accelerate their scaling efforts, further expand into field sports like soccer and offer high quality automated video production to its current sports.
"We've been extremely impressed with the hard work and dedication of the BallerTV team. The opportunity to work with a talented team who shares a mission of providing access to live coverage of amateur sports is amazing," said FieldVision CEO Kav Ohiomoba. "We started at the opposite ends of the same path; FieldVision went technology and automation first and BallerTV went boots-on-the-ground and scale first. When technology and scale meet in the middle, you get something truly incredible."
