Bananagrams Announces North American Distribution Deal with Hit UK Independent Games Company Big Potato
Providence, RI (PRWEB) August 01, 2016 -- Bananagrams, Inc., the family-owned Rhode Island-based company behind a range of innovative tile and word games, including the international phenomenon BANANAGRAMS®, today announced it will partner with UK-based independent games company Big Potato to bring several new party games to the US. Bucket of Doom®, Obama Llama®, Mr Lister’s Quiz Shootout®, and Scrawl® will be available at Target and Target.com this August. Bananagrams currently distributes Big Potato’s popular trivia game LINKEE® throughout the US and Canada.
“We are thrilled to further cultivate our relationship with Big Potato,” said Rena Nathanson, CEO, Bananagrams, Inc. “2016 marks the 10th anniversary of BANANAGRAMS, the game that started it all for us, and we’re continuously evolving and looking for ways to grow our portfolio both internally and with creative partners that share our vision. Fun and fresh, Big Potato’s creative take on party games offers the perfect compliment to our world-renowned word and tile games.”
“Bananas and potatoes are not most people’s go-to food combination, but when it comes to game companies, it’s a match made in heaven,” said Dean Tempest, Joint Founder of Big Potato. “Working with Bananagrams has been like hanging out with our hero — who thankfully haven’t issued us with a restraining order, but taken us under their wing and shown us around America like a great guide, introducing us to the best people and showing us the important places to be.”
The new games will be available at Target this August, as well as featured this summer by Bananagrams, Inc. and Big Potato at the country’s premier game convention, Gen Con, in Indianapolis August 4-7.
Bucket of Doom - Funded on Kickstarter, this death-defying party game gets players to escape from tons of seriously bad situations with the help of hundreds of seriously useless objects. For example, "how would you escape from the inside of a whale with only a foot-long hotdog and an angry beaver to help you?" (Age 17+, $19.99)
Mr Lister’s Quiz Shootout: This simple game is like an old-style Western shootout but with brains for guns. Two teams go head-to-head. They face a quirky question, such as, “American’s 10 favorite pizza toppings. List ‘em”. Each team gets three shots at a correct answer. The team with the most “hits” wins. If it’s a draw, then it’s off to the last chance saloon to sort things out. (Age 14+, $19.99)
Obama Llama: Created by UK DJ, Matt Edmondson, and crafted by Big Potato, this simple rhyming charades game is silly – very silly. Before long you’ll be yelling out weird and wonderful rhymes like, “Tom Cruise in his platform shoes!”, “Moby Dick using a selfie stick!”, and, of course, “Barack Obama riding a llama!” to earn points and win the game. (Age 14+, $24.99)
Scrawl – Bad drawers make great Scrawlers. Start off with a loaded phrase, doodle it, then pass it on. By the time your masterpiece of “Playing drums with bananas” passes through your friends’ weird minds and wonky pens – and makes it back to you – things will have gone horribly wrong. (17+, $24.99SRP)
