Battle for Arizona Headlines 5 Big Games
(PRWEB) October 04, 2017 -- This week’s GameTime schedule features big rivalry games in Arizona and Louisiana. The featured game Friday, October 6th is a battle for Arizona between two of the state's top ranked teams - #4 Perry vs. #3 Chandler. The other featured game and national game of the week on Thursday October 5th is a battle on the bayou as two New Orleans powerhouse teams face off. Last year’s Louisiana 4A champion Edna Karr takes on McDonogh 35. Three additional regional games on Friday include Broken Arrow vs. Westmoore (Oklahoma), Elkhorn vs. Elkhorn South (Nebraska), and Crossings Christian vs. Minco (Oklahoma – Streaming only).
The Thursday national game is available to all Cox subscribers. Regional games will be televised in specific Cox markets, and all games stream live on yurview.com. Edna Karr vs. McDonogh 35 (Louisiana)
When: Thursday, October 5th – 6:30pm CT (times/channels vary across regions – check local listings)

Overview: Edna Karr (4-1) is the defending Louisiana 4A state champion, ranked #7 in the state. The Cougars are led by OB Skyler Perry, who has thrown for 603 yds/5 TDs this season. Other offensive leaders include junior RB Ronnie Jacksons with 10 TD’s this season and WR/Oregon St. commit Anthony Spurlock. On defense, Junior Devin Bush is one of the state’s top DBs from the class of 2019 and is being heavily recruited by a number of SEC schools including LSU. McDonogh 35 (5-1) looks to avenge last year’s playoff loss to their division rival Karr. Senior safety Joe Foucha is one of the most sought-after defensive backs. He is being heavily recruited by both Auburn and LSU. Senior CB Glen Dwight-Brown and junior SS Jaden Henderson give this team one of the top backfields in the state. On offense, McDonogh features Lawrence Keys, one of the state’s top receivers. He is being recruited by LSU and Auburn. McDonogh QB Lejohn Howard has passed for 631 yds/6TDs.
Perry vs. Chandler (Arizona)

Overview: This will be the spotlight game in Arizona this week. Perry is 6-0 and ranked #4 in the state. The Pumas are averaging 59 points per game and haven’t beaten Chandler in five previous attempts. For Perry, the leader on offense is duel threat QB Brock Purdy who has thrown for 1,700 yds/24 TD’s and a 70% completion percentage. He’s also ran for over 400 yards and 3 TDs. Chandler (5-2) is the defending Arizona big school champion and currently ranked #3 in the state. One of their losses was to Nationally ranked #2 IMG. The offense is led by Junior QB Jacob Conover and WR Gunner Romney. Conover’s missed several weeks with a shoulder injury but hopes to return for this big game. Conover has already received an offer from Alabama. Romney, who had his coming out party at the Nike Opening and the Elite 11 camp this past, has verbally committed to BYU.
Broken Arrow vs. Westmoore (Oklahoma)

Overview: Broken Arrow comes into this game with a 1-4 record. However, they’ve lost to #1 Union, #2 Owasso and Southlake Carroll from Texas. Broken Arrow beat Yukon 56-20 Friday night in Yukon. Broken Arrow scored four touchdowns on 10 plays in the first 11 minutes of the game. Quarterback Lafayette Wright threw TD passes of 67 & 76 yards in that first quarter. The Westmoore Jaguars are undefeated at 5-0. They recently beat defending 6A Division II champion Bixby on the road, 34-22. Leading the offense are the RB duo of Braxton George and Garrett King.
Elkhorn vs. Elkhorn South (Omaha, Nebraska)

Overview: It's district time in Class B, and the slate opens with Elkhorn South (6-0), two-time defending Class B champions squaring off against crosstown rival Elkhorn (4-2). Elkhorn South's Moses Bryant set the Class B career record for touchdowns this season and figures to add to his legendary scoring numbers before he hangs up his Storm jersey for good. Elkhorn is led by a freshman phenom Aiden Young. Young has topped the 100-yard rushing mark twice in five games and averages 6.5 yards per carry.
Crossings Christian vs. Minco (Oklahoma)

Overview: Conference rivalry game between the Knights of Crossings Christian (5-1) vs. the Bulldogs of Minco (2-3).
