Be Bold, Be Bald! Opens Registration for 2013
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- In celebration of five successful years of cancer fundraising, Be Bold, Be Bald! is offering participants from across the nation a chance to become even more involved through their newly launched Ambassador Program. Ambassadors for the 5th annual event, taking place on October 18th will encourage fundraising groups and beneficiaries in their area to spread the word and “go bald,” sporting a bald cap in a show of solidarity for those who have no choice in losing their hair. The Be Bold, Be Bald! Ambassador Program is open to anyone willing and able to donate additional time and effort in support of the October 18th event. In addition to the Ambassador Program, registration for group or individual participation is available online.
Upon registration via the Be Bold, Be Bald! website, Ambassadors will receive a kit containing posters and other merchandise as well as access to a resource page providing additional content including fundraising tips and marketing materials. Ambassadors will also be asked to spread the word in their communities by completing a minimum of five additional designated tasks. Tasks include outreach to local media alerting them of the event, hanging posters to promote the event in local shops or businesses and sharing your Be Bold, Be Bald! story with the national team to be featured in social media or marketing outreach. Cancer organizations participating in the annual event range from small local groups to such national brands as the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Livestrong, Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. A full list of beneficiaries is available on the Be Bold, Be Bald! website and organizations still interested in becoming beneficiaries are encouraged to apply online through August 31st.
Be Bold, Be Bald! was founded in honor of the late Mike Connell, co-founder and former Creative Principal of Boston-based advertising agency Small Army, in 2009 by friend and business partner, Jeff Freedman. Mike lost his 3rd battle with cancer after a heroic 2-year fight in 2007, leaving behind a wife and three children. To date, the event had raised more than $600,000 for more than 40 organizations, with approximately 10,000 participants across the United States.
