Becker ENT is Now Performing Balloon Sinuplasty
(PRWEB) October 03, 2017 -- Balloon Sinuplasty is Providing Instant In-office Relief from Recurring Sinus Infections
Becker ENT Center physicians personalize care to provide each patient with customized ear, nose and throat treatments. Balloon Sinuplasty (BSP) is a breakthrough in-office sinus surgery that is performed by Becker ENT doctors. BSP opens the sinus passages and provides lasting relief from the sinus discomfort, reoccurring sinus infections and pressure that is often associated with sinusitis.
Balloon Sinuplasty Treats These Symptoms
• Diminished Sense of Smell
• Congestion
• Sinus Infection & Sinusitis
• Cough & Post Nasal Drip
• Facial Pain/Pressure/Headaches
• Nasal and Sinus Discharge
Becker ENT Center physicians may recommend Balloon Sinuplasty for patients who are experiencing ongoing discomfort and have not responded to medical treatments. Balloon Sinuplasty safely opens the sinus passages to reduce the severity, frequency and duration of sinus symptoms.
Balloon Sinuplasty Benefits
• Promotes sinus drainage
• Performed under local anesthesia
• Decreases sinus pressure and pain
• Involves minimal down-time and short recovery
• Provides substantial, long-term relief
Balloon Sinuplasty is often performed as a minor procedure in the comfort of the Becker ENT office, rather than a hospital operating room. The procedure usually takes about one hour. While the recovery time varies for each patient, many Becker BSP patients resume their regular activities or return to work the very next day.
During the treatment, a balloon catheter is carefully inserted into the sinuses to open the blocked passages. Once the balloon is inside the cavity, it is inflated, which widens and opens the passages. Saline is then used to flush out accumulated mucus and infected material. The balloon is then deflated and gently removed, and the sinuses remain open. The in-office treatment is designed to provide long-term relief as it opens the sinuses and reduces inflammation and swelling.
Are You a Candidate for Balloon Sinuplasty?
The best way to determine if you are a good candidate for Balloon Sinuplasty is to talk with a Becker ENT Center physician who will review your health history, examine you and complete an assessment. Balloon Sinuplasty may be the right choice for you if you are experiencing some of the following symptoms:
• Facial pressure
• Facial pain
• Sinus headaches
• Decreased Sense of Smell
• Congestion
• Yellow, green, or discolored mucus discharge from the nose
Balloon Sinuplasty may be recommended if your doctor has previously prescribed sinus medication and the medication did not adequately treat or resolve symptoms. Have you had four or more recurrent sinus infections during the past year? Also, during the past year, have you taken sinus medication for more than eight weeks without improvement? Has your doctor referred you to an ENT specialist? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you may benefit from this in-office procedure.
