Becky Silberman Named Director of Athletics & Summer Programs at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School
29 year-old Homegrown Athlete is the Youngest Athletic Director in the PVAC.
ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Becky Silberman, Interim Athletic Director for the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School (CESJDS), has been named Director of Athletics and Summer Programs, effective immediately. Becky is the youngest athletic director and one of just five female athletic directors in the School's conference, the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC). She has served CESJDS in a variety of capacities for over seven years including a coach, ESOL and Hebrew teacher, grade advisor, and middle school physical education teacher.
Becky earned both a B.S. in Kinesiology and a M.A. in Education, with an emphasis in Physical Education, from the University of Maryland, College Park. Outside of CESJDS, Becky has been a Head Basketball Coach at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington and an Assistant Basketball Coach for the Potomac Valley Thunder, AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). She also coached the USA Junior Girls Basketball Team in the 2017 Maccabiah Games, leading the group of girls through international competition. Becky is homegrown Marylander, and was a year-round athlete at neighboring Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy.
