Beginning Over Foundation Plans to Challenge Guinness World Record for Longest Awareness Ribbon: Record Purple Ribbon to Raise Awareness for Victims of Domestic Violence
Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) December 05, 2013 -- The Bethlehem Golf Club will set the stage for the Guinness World Record’s Longest Awareness Ribbon, Saturday, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 2 pm. The announcement was made by Heidi Markow, director and founder of The Beginning Over Foundation, Easton, a non-profit with mission to assist victims and survivors of domestic abuse and homicide.
“We are participating in the Guinness World Record challenge as a means to raise awareness for survivors and victims of domestic violence. The message of the purple ribbon helps shed light on one of the most unreported crimes that affects 1 out of 4 women in the U.S., in addition to impacting countless children, teens and men. Domestic violence affects all ages, races and socio-economic backgrounds,” says Markow.
On hand to witness and officiate the 4,500 hundred feet of purple velvet ribbon that will stretch across the Bethlehem Golf Club Course will be representatives from Guinness World Records, in addition to city, state and county administrators.
Officiating and recording the awareness ribbon will be Tom Wilchik of the City of Bethlehem Golf Club.
Currently, the longest awareness ribbon measures 1,247 m (4,091 ft. 2 in) and was created by Aid and Hope Program for Cancer Patient Care (Palestine), in Gaza, the Gaza-Strip, Palestinian Entity, on October 10, 2012.
The Guinness World Record Purple Ribbon Awareness Ribbon Challenge on Saturday, May 24th will also be a fun day for the entire family, adds Markow.
