Current Tampa Bay Business Journal “40 under 40” honoree joins the list of 100 influential young executives

Benzer Pharmacy is pleased to announce that President Alpesh Patel has continued his ascendant trajectory as one of the nation’s foremost young business leaders, now appearing on Business Journals’ Influencers: Rising Stars list for the first time.

Patel’s well-deserved distinction among today’s “Rising Stars” was determined through the collective efforts of editors and staff members working within The Business Journals’ network of more than 40 publications, including The Tampa Bay Business Journal (TBBJ).

As described in a recent article posted on, more than a thousand candidates whose “40 Under 40” profiles were published over past year were up for consideration. To his credit, Patel was only one of three current TBBJ 40 under 40 representatives to advance into the national spotlight.

Putting the accolade into perspective, Patel expressed his gratitude to those who did the heavy lifting in making their selections, but also shifted the focus, naturally, towards the larger impact of teamwork on the bottom line, along his own belief that “with growth comes the growing pains of instilling structure and choosing the right candidates to lead the path.”

Alpesh readily acknowledged the difficult decision he had to make in changing the whole top management structure at Benzer to stem a decline in growth while improving workflow processes across the board.

“The idea was to bring in the experience the company needed to help us move forward,” Patel said. “If you wait for the perfect opportunity, you might only be setting yourself up for too little, too late.”

Thankfully, for the now rapidly growing pharmacy chain, Patel’s leadership was right on-time and on-point.

The Business Journals’ Influencers: Rising Stars list is intended to shine a light on those young executives who are making positive impacts in their companies and their communities. Brian Kornfield of Synapse; and, Punit Shah of Liberty Group were the other two current TBBJ “40 Under 40” representatives to earn “Rising Star” status.
