Veteran capital markets advisor to lead new debt and equity platform for one of the nation's top retail investment brokerage firms
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Berkeley Capital Advisors (Berkeley), one of the nation's top 10 retail investment brokerage firms, has launched a structured finance group, its first dedicated debt brokerage service, and named Trevor Campbell managing director. Campbell will lead the group from a new Berkeley office in Washington, D.C.
The group will structure debt and equity capitalization solutions for Berkeley's investor and institutional clients, including acquisition financing, refinancing, and recapitalizations. The platform will serve all major commercial real estate asset classes, including multifamily, industrial, office, hospitality and self-storage.
Since its founding in 1997, Berkeley has closed 3,010 transactions totaling $18.9 billion in sales volume, including 72 grocery-anchored and multi-tenant shopping centers last year alone.
"We're very methodical and very organic in how we grow, and adding debt brokerage is something we've discussed for quite some time," said Rob Carter, founding partner of Berkeley Capital Advisors. "It's time now. We know how to offer this service in a way that truly benefits our clients, and we found the right person to lead it."
Campbell brings 25 years of commercial real estate experience and has participated in the financing, sale or acquisition of more than $6 billion in assets. He most recently led the Mid-Atlantic structured finance team at Transwestern and previously worked in JLL's Capital Markets group. Berkeley has referred business to Campbell for about a decade.
"Trevor has done an outstanding job servicing our clients and providing and executing on debt options," Carter said. "He brings a long track record of success, a very deep network of lenders across the United States, and an enthusiasm that will help our clients succeed."
In keeping with Berkeley's client-first approach, the structured finance group is designed to expand client options, not dictate them. Clients may choose whether to use the service, and the platform is built to complement the lender relationships many clients already have.
"Optionality for our clients is very important," Carter said. "We will provide debt options that clients can choose to take or not to take. Our goal is to give them access to high-quality debt, and a clear view of what's available."
For Campbell, the platform allows Berkeley to look beyond a single sale to a client's broader portfolio, and running financing alongside due diligence brings clarity to what can be an opaque stage of a deal.
"Berkeley has built an exceptional brand with market share that is second to none, and this gives the team another resource to drive results," said Campbell. "Instead of a conversation about sale or no sale, we can talk with clients about their whole portfolio, whether that means a sale, a refinance, or a recapitalization. My job is to tell the story of why a lender should want to finance a property, take it to a broad group of lenders, and find our clients the best terms the market will bear."
With plans to thoughtfully build a complementary team over time, the firm will take a deliberate approach to growth, adding the right talent to strengthen Berkeley's investment sales operation and expand its reach across the Mid-Atlantic. Ultimately, Berkeley will measure the platform's success by the client experience. By connecting buyers with the right investment and financing through one trusted partner, the firm aims to make every transaction seamless.
