BET Honors Recognizes Brandon Frame For His Work in Education
Hartford, Connecticut (PRWEB) March 02, 2016 -- “Be Different. Be Great. Never Stop.” has been the motto on which Brandon Frame, Chief Visionary Officer of TheBlackManCan and Director of Partnershps has built his dreams. A graduate of Morehouse College, Frame launched TheBlackManCanin 2010. TheBlackManCan blog has been viewed millions of times through the county and globally. TheBlackManCan Institute with its volunteer network of over 200 men of color have completed 24 institutes in 11 different states and 19 different cities impacting over 2000 young men. BET Honors will recognize Brandon’s achievements as the “Next In Class” for Education. The awards show is scheduled to air on Monday, March 14th 8p/7c.
Featured in media such as JET Magazine, The Boston Globe, Black Enterprise, The Grio, and CBS Network not only for his work, but for his insightful perspective on the challenges Black men and boys face globally. As the Director of Business Partnerships and Development at High School Inc., Brandon orchestrated the school's inaugural trip to Europe that included inner-city students that had never traveled outside of the city and has placed over 200 young people in corporate internships. Since its inception, Frame is on his third annual international trip for under-privileged students.
Growing up in Hartford, Connecticut, Brandon established himself at an early age by committing to achieving his goals. His penchant for excellence was sealed while attending Morehouse College where he cultivated his passion for developing young Black Males through several mentoring programs.
He’s the author of Define Yourself, Redefine the World: A Guided Journal for Boys and Men of Color, Frame was raised by a single mother and didn’t meet his father for the first time until he was in college. He shares, “If you told me 10 years ago that I would be where I am today, I wouldn’t believe you. How could I?” He continues, “I was a young, Black male in America inundated with images of men who look like me solely depicted as gang bangers, drug dealers, jailbirds, deadbeat dads, or dead before they made it to 25. I’m not even talking about movies; I’m talking about the news!”
TheBlackManCan serves as a digital platform where the Black Man is nurtured, empowered, and promoted in a positive light. As Founder, he has composed a one-of-a-kind proactive tool that will help to propel males to build their critical consciousness through self-reflection. As a dynamic and engaging speaker, he is changing the conversation on education and empowerment that is often undermined in regards to Black culture.
Among a myriad of awards and honors, including being named Top 40 under 40 by the Hartford Business Journal and Change Maker of the Year by Black Celebrity Giving, his greatest accomplishment is being the walking example that he sets for the young men and women he leads. Whether he is relentlessly serving as an administrator, mentor, or the definitive agent of change.
BET’s “Next In Class” is a celebration of young leaders, innovators, and influencers who are stars rising in their fields. The nominations are comprised of 6 different categories: Fashion, Education, Social Justice, STEM, Entertainment, and Music. Frame says, “I’m incredibly humbled and blessed that BET chose me to honor me and the work I do in Education. I feel that this award is bigger than me and represents a larger movement that has transformative power in our current generation and those to come. I will continue to be so reminded of Martin and Malcolm yet so inspired to sketch my own path."
