The 21st Annual Bethesda Row Arts Festival, one of the premier arts festivals in the region, showcases the museum-quality work of 190 artists in an outdoor gallery on the streets of Bethesda Row, October 13-14, 2018.
BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sophisticated folk art recognized by the Smithsonian, vibrant blown glass vessels exploring the earth's topography, hand-forged jewelry melding stone and silver into sculpture, and luminous award-winning watercolors reflecting faraway foreign lands. These are just a few examples of the museum-quality art that will be displayed at the 21st Annual Bethesda Row Arts Festival this October.
Having become a showcase for exquisite arts and crafts, from intricate jewelry to iconic sculptures, it's no wonder that the Bethesda Row Arts Festival has established itself as one of the leading fine arts and crafts festivals in the United States since its founding in 1997. Today, the Festival is ranked as one of the top elite fine art fairs in the U.S. by the Art Fair Sourcebook.
This year, the 21st Annual Festival will again bring together 190 world-class artists in an open-air outdoor gallery that transforms the streets of Bethesda Row in Bethesda, Maryland. The Festival takes place, rain or shine, Saturday, October 13, from 11am to 6pm, and Sunday, October 14, from 10am to 5pm.
Also showcased during the event will be performances by the area's top musicians in a variety of genres, including the popular 19th Street Band. New this year, "Pop-Up" Performance Art from jugglers, dancers, and musicians will take place afternoons of the Festival.
The Festival is free and open to the public. More information is available at http://www.bethesdarowarts.org or on Facebook or by calling 301-637-5684. A special art sale will benefit the NIH Children's Charities, thanks to generous donations from participating artists.
Participating in this year's Festival are artists from across the United States who have received national and international acclaim for their ability to bring new vibrancy to their chosen media. Their work represents the most unique art being created today in ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, metalwork, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood, and mixed media.
All of the artists were selected by a professional jury based on the creativity, innovation, and execution of their original works. A complete list of artists, along with the event schedule, is available at http://www.bethesdarowarts.org.
According to Bethesda Row Arts Festival Director Robin Markowitz, the Festival has become recognized as one of the best art fairs in the country for its exceptional art, wide appeal, and its engaging artists. "The Festival is unique in that it offers something to attract everyone - from the serious patron to the new collector - and it provides art lovers the rare opportunity to discover new artists as well as those who are pioneers in their fields," she notes.
