BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy, one of the nation’s leading innovative specialty pharmacies, earns highest marks for patient satisfaction among independent specialty pharmacies in the Zitter Health Insights’ Patient Satisfaction Survey.

BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy (BioPlus), one of the nation’s leading innovative specialty pharmacies, received a #1 ranking in terms of consumer loyalty in a survey of patient satisfaction of specialty pharmacies, according to the Zitter Health Insights Specialty Pharmacy Patient Satisfaction Survey (Quarter 4, 2018).

BioPlus scored the highest of all the independent specialty pharmacies in a ‘Net Promoter Score TM’ (NPS) which is a metric used to gauge consumer loyalty. “BioPlus’ NPS score of 90 was an increase of 8 points from the previous survey and indicates that we perform in the excellent category, with the majority of our patients recommending our specialty pharmacy,” explains Nicholas Maroulis, Pharm.D., Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Services. This gives BioPlus the top rating overall for independent specialty pharmacies.

“Although we scored high across the board with patients – as reflected in our #1 ranking in patient satisfaction in the NPS score of independent pharmacies – we did especially well with our psoriasis and Crohn’s disease patients who gave us perfect marks,” notes Stephen Vogt, Pharm.D., CEO of BioPlus.

Drilling down in the survey results revealed a high degree of patient loyalty to BioPlus, since Zitter’s survey found that 83% of current BioPlus patients would be upset if they were forced to switch to another specialty pharmacy. As with the NPS score, this was the highest number of any of the independent specialty pharmacies in the survey.

“Patients clearly positively respond to our efficiency programs at BioPlus, such as our RxExpressTM program which makes us faster than most other pharmacies,” shares Dr. Vogt. The RxExpress process begins with a 2-Hour Patient Acceptance Guarantee which ensures notification to physician offices in less than two hours whether a referred patient is accepted for treatment. After that, prescriptions move to the 2-Day Ready 2 Ship process and throughout this process, the patient financial assistance department helps ensure that financial issues don’t stand in the way of patient treatment. In 2018, our financial assistance department connected patients with $33 million in patient assistance, in the form of grants, co-pay assistance, and donations.

Zitter Health Insights Specialty Pharmacy Patient Satisfaction Survey covers the time period of Quarter 4, 2018 and was based on 4,000 patients in at least 10 therapeutic areas at the top 10 specialty pharmacies.
