The announcement comes on the heels of Bisson Dentistry's annual Big Heart Dentistry event held in May 2022. The Big Heart Dentistry event provided dental care, including fillings, extractions, or cleaning free of charge for dozens of patients in the Guelph community.
The decision to offer complimentary exams to new patients younger is designed to meet two objectives, according to Dr. Andre Bisson, founder of Bisson Dentistry.
"It is crucial to establish strong dental relationships early. However, it is always better to establish those relationships later, rather than never. We are waiving our exam fee to encourage patients who have never seen a dentist, to be examined now. It is much easier to prevent, or correct small problems early, than it is to correct worsening problems later," he said.
The announcement comes as some residents of Guelph and surrounding communities continue to experience financial hardship. "We have seen many of our neighbors and fellow small business owners struggle for the past few years. COVID-19, and the ensuing inflation and gas prices are unfortunately forcing too many people to forgo regular exams, and preventative care," he said.
