Register to attend The Virtual Experience: Birth & Breastfeeding Conference. The conference goal is to align practices, policies and attitudes to achieve positive birth and breastfeeding outcomes for black mothers and babies.
DETROIT, June 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Now in its 12th year, Black Mothers Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA) will celebrate its second annual conference, previously known as The Motown Experience, with 170 registrants and four days of experts. Exciting keynote addresses, informative forums and opportunities to network with professionals who work daily to reduce maternal health disparities Black children face.
This years conference is an opportunity to discuss and address the pressing issues Black mothers and babies face that impact them. The conference kicks off on June 8th, with Dr. Michal Young, MD as the keynote speaker on "Bedsharing and Breastfeeding." Young will provide a review of bedsharing and use data for recommended breastfeeding and bedsharing practices that include how bedsharing can aid in breastfeeding.
Tuesday's opening session features "Peer-to-Peer Milk Sharing in a Pandemic." Here you can learn steps for home pasteurization of human milk and ways to safely milk share during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Transforming the Spirit of Care: Detroit's First Freestanding Birth Center" follows. Wednesday's session covers "Battling Bias: Community-Centered, Digital Innovations for Equitable Care." Registrants will have a chance to attend a workshop with BMBFA's Founding Executive Director, Kiddada Green, MAT and gain usable skills to support training and advocacy in "Using Direct Service, Training & Advocacy to Optimize the First Food Experience."
Additionally, BMBFA will welcome a total of 15 prominent speakers and contributors throughout the conference that will include virtual meetups, panel discussions as well as networking opportunities for those who choose to virtually attend.
