BlackDoctor.org Unveils 'Ticket to Health' Event at 2015 Annual CIAA Basketball Tournament Fan Fest
CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) February 23, 2015 -- BlackDoctor.org (BDO), the leading on-line health destination for African Americans, today announced that Astellas Pharma US, Inc. will be the exclusive health sponsor for its interactive health exhibit at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Basketball Tournament (CIAA) community Fan Fest in Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 26-28.
“We are excited that Astellas will be an exclusive health sponsor of our ‘Ticket to Health’ booth exhibit, said BlackDoctor.org CEO Reggie Ware. “We thank Astellas for their support to bring this informative experience to Fan Fest this year.”
CIAA attendees and the Charlotte community are invited to come out and experience the exhibit. At the “Ticket to Health” booth provided by BlackDoctor.org, visitors will get a “ticket” enabling them to engage in a series of educational activities designed to help African Americans develop a ‘game plan’ for better health and wellness.
“This years’ experience will be a ‘game changer’,” said Ware. “Participants can learn about important health information, such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and prostate cancer screenings, information consumers should know to prepare for doctor visits, and a checklist for health screenings. Together, this helps participants to develop a personal ‘game plan’ to better health and wellness.”
Fan Fest visitors may also participate in free health screenings and risk assessments provided by certified professionals on-site.
To encourage good health, visitors can sign up for the BDO newsletter, make a health pledge, or share an experience on BDO’S immensely popular social media platform, as well as enter daily raffles for tickets to tournament events.

“A first step to better health is to recognize the risks of developing certain conditions so you can either take preventative measures or seek treatment,” said Buford. “The CIAA Fan Fest will help increase that awareness and hopefully enable people to better understand their current health status.”
There will be media and on-site promotions at the booth and during tournament week.
Fan Fest and the health pavilion are free to the public and open Thursday, Feb. 26.
