The USPTO has issued Utility Patent No. 11,492,106 entitled, "Vertical Take-Off and Landing Vehicle." The patent is directed at the company's proprietary design including the unique tilt-mechanism, internal payload bay, compact wing design, and control software.
Propulsion modules are actuated independently and make use of advanced on-board control code enabling vectored thrust. This allows for self-righting and extreme maneuverability, even in challenging weather conditions, while enabling high-speed and energy-efficient flight. This first-of-its-kind design stands apart from conventional drones where typically high-speed, high-maneuverability and long range with high-payload cannot be achieved simultaneously. The internal payload bay protects the cargo from extreme factors like wind and rain and allows unloading from either the top or bottom for all-automatable delivery sequences.
The quad compact wing design is ideal for tight spaces and urban environments, allowing the drone platform to more easily maneuver and land when and where it is needed. Functionality is shifted from hardware to software for better unit economics and reducing complexity.
