Blueflite, an advanced logistics drone platform provider for faster, more cost-effective, and sustainable deliveries, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a patent related to its advanced logistics drone platform covering its unique and revolutionary design and functionality.
The USPTO has issued Utility Patent No. 11,492,106 entitled, “Vertical Take-Off and Landing Vehicle.” The patent is directed at the company’s proprietary design including the unique tilt-mechanism, internal payload bay, compact wing design, and control software.
Propulsion modules are actuated independently and make use of advanced on-board control code enabling vectored thrust. This allows for self-righting and extreme maneuverability, even in challenging weather conditions, while enabling high-speed and energy-efficient flight. This first-of-its-kind design stands apart from conventional drones where typically high-speed, high-maneuverability and long range with high-payload cannot be achieved simultaneously. Blueflite’s patented design featuring the tilt-mechanism makes all this possible.
The internal payload bay protects the cargo from extreme factors like wind and rain and allows unloading from either the top or bottom for all-automatable delivery sequences.
The quad compact wing design is ideal for tight spaces and urban environments, allowing the drone platform to more easily maneuver and land when and where it is needed. Functionality is shifted from hardware to software for better unit economics and reducing complexity.
“These key features are absent from most delivery drones on the market today and we believe that these capabilities are essential to succeed in the drone logistics industry,” said Frank Noppel, Blueflite Founder and CEO. “This is just the first in a series of patents we have pending as Blueflite continues to invest in the best mobility technology for future logistics solutions.”
Founded in 2018, blueflite designs and manufactures advanced drone systems and software for an integrated approach to cargo delivery. The company’s patented platform handles all aspects of logistics drone operations and provides a one-stop solution to solve logistics challenges globally. The unique, and all-electrical drone design has vertical take-off and landing capabilities, advanced maneuverability, and is built without compromise – to meet the rigorous demands of commercial operations. Whether packages are large or small, Blueflite’s drone-based platform is built to scale in both size and quantity.
