We have a unique opportunity to build an online community, empowering Makeup Artists to be their own beauty bosses while backing them with the power of the Blushington platform.
NEW YORK (PRWEB) November 19, 2020
This November, Blushington Makeup & Beauty Lounge launches the Blushington Academy for Artist Advancement. The Academy is designed for makeup artists, cosmetology and esthetics school graduates who are looking to accelerate and elevate their careers. Having established itself as the premier training ground for working artists for the past 10 years, Blushington is uniquely positioned to close the gap between the classroom and beauty entrepreneurship, translating the invaluable skills that working makeup artists have already learned to the practical realities of building a lucrative freelance career.
This proprietary 25 hour, interactive and completely live, online course will provide participants with the artistic and practical knowledge on how to begin or elevate their freelance career. Class size is limited to 10, so participants will come away with substantive, personalized attention. All classes will be taught live by Blushington’s expert Educators.
Upon course completion, all graduates will retain the support of the Blushington platform, gaining national visibility on a geographically searchable database on Blushington.com. Additionally, each graduate will have their own curated “Shop in Shop” on the website (https://blushington.com/pages/find-makeup-artists) of their favorite products and will earn a competitive commission for all sales they drive through their shop (https://blushington.com/pages/keyerra-madeline). Whether it is at a makeup appointment or by driving people to their online store, every graduate will have the potential to increase their earnings on a recurring basis to supplement their artistry income.
The course will go beyond the Blushington Way of artistry, to include topics such as freelance business skills, cultivating lasting customer relationships, driving product sales and optimizing social media, all critical ingredients to building a thriving freelance career. The course will also teach Blushington’s best practices for how to deliver virtual makeup via an interactive, online platform, an innovation launched by Blushington in April 2020 providing a skillset that is critical in today’s Covid era.
In addition to the course, the $975 tuition includes a luxury Pro Kit valued at over $1200 retail and comprised of best in class products from Blushington partner brands including Revlon, Erborian, Jouer, Bdellium, BeautyRX, Bioderma, PYT, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila and other prestigious independent brands along with Blushington branded tools. The Pro Kit will be updated biannually and will serve as a conduit for up and coming brands to reach Pro Makeup Artists and a differentiated source of distribution.
Natasha Cornstein, Blushington’s CEO states, “Like many businesses in 2020, we had to pivot from a brick and mortar business to a virtual one. We realized we had an opportunity to tap into our proprietary Blushington Artistry training program, breaking down the barriers of our four walls to educate and empower freelance Makeup Artists across the country through the creation of The Blushington Academy for Artist Advancement.”
Cornstein continues, “The demand for cosmetologists is expected to grow double digits by 2025. The majority of freelance Makeup Artists work independently and build their clientele by word of mouth. It can be a lonely existence and for those starting out on their careers with no network, no clients and no business experience, a daunting challenge to get started. We have a unique opportunity to build an online community, empowering Makeup Artists to be their own beauty bosses while backing them with the power of the Blushington platform. With the geo-searchable directory and their very own Shop-In-Shops on Blushington.com, our Certified Artists will have the opportunity to raise their profile, retain earnings on product sales and expand their clientele. Brands that participate in our Academy Pro Kit will have access over time to thousands of Pro Makeup Artists and a differentiated distribution channel. When you lose your business overnight you can give up or reinvent. I could not be more proud of our team for pivoting our brick and mortar business to the virtual arena.”
Brittany Scott, Blushington’s Director of Education adds, “As a Pro Artist, I know first hand the challenges of investing in cosmetology school, graduating with debt and not knowing where or how to begin a career. I learned things the hard way as a freelance artist. Blushington Academy takes away some of the guesswork and growing pains, giving participants all the ins and outs that you need to elevate their careers. Investing in the Academy is priceless, especially when compared with the items in the Pro Kit.”
Blushington’s Former Director of Artistry, Jessica Payne (@jesssouthern) who was instrumental in building Blushington’s proprietary training program, will serve as an Academy Ambassador. She states, “When I heard about Blushington starting an Academy for artists that anyone nationwide could join, I knew I wanted to be a part of this. Blushington was a big part of building my foundation as a Makeup Artist. This Academy is going to teach the 'Blushington Way' of makeup and make sure you feel 10 times more confident in your skill set to work, leaving your clients feeling 10 times more beautiful. It’s truly unique and joining this community will help artists in all stages of their careers get the support they need.”
In partnership with French-Korean skincare makeup brand Erborian, Blushington will endow scholarships for aspiring women and minority students in 2021. William Smolen, Erborian’s General Manager, North America, states, “We're thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with and support our longtime partners at Blushington through the launch of the Blushington Academy for Artist Advancement. On behalf of Erborian, we're proud to be offering scholarships, matched by the Blushington team, to women and minority Makeup Artists in advancement of diversification opportunities to the talented individuals within our industry. We've long respected the Blushington brand as a leader in the artistry and beauty fields and feel honored to partake in a meaningful commitment toward positive change for the future of all rising talent."
