With 36 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Hemker's career is highlighted with various c-suite roles that spanned for-profit, non-profit, and government acute care facilities across California and Hawaii. Most notably, Hemker held various positions in his 16-year tenure at Palomar Health. He was appointed as CFO in 2001 and was named CFO of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal in 2009. When Hemker was appointed as CEO in 2014, he drove the strategic, financial and operational leadership of the network while working closely with community and staff members before retiring in 2018.
