Bobbie Solley Center for Excellence in Teaching at FHU Offers Series of Virtual Professional Development Sessions on Key Topics
Through the support of generous donors, educators may attend at no charge and will receive a certificate of completion that can be used for professional development points.
HENDERSON, Tenn., Jan. 28, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In continuing its mission to "Reach Students, Empower Teachers and Transform Instruction," the Bobbie Solley Center for Excellence in Teaching at Freed-Hardeman University announces a series of virtual sessions led by education leaders that will inspire professionals working in the field. This Monday (Jan. 31) Chester County Schools District Math Coach Melanie Peel, who also previously served as the Southwest Regional Math Consultant, will begin her four-part series on "Literacy Skills for Math Proficiency (Math/Reading)." In the same week, Wednesday (Feb. 2) Tennessee Teacher of the Year (2016) Cathy Presnell will give a virtual presentation "Wow Them with Words," which will be a two-part series.
All one-hour sessions are held from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. and through the support of generous donors, educators may attend at no charge to them or their school district. Educators will receive a certificate of completion that can be used for professional development points.
"We want more educators to know about these beneficial sessions and how they can use what they learn to impact their students, schools and districts," Director of the Bobbie Solley Center for Excellence in Teaching Sarah Hibbett said.
Dr. Bobbie Solley, former director of education development for Healing Hands International and a retired professor from Middle Tennessee State University, worked in collaboration with the College of Education to establish the center for excellence. A total of 40 sessions began in the fall of 2021, 26 virtual and 14 in-person. Educators from all levels of education and school districts across Tennessee have participated.
