Did you know you have just eight seconds (or less) to grab the attention of the media? That means you must seal the deal before you finish reading these two sentences.
Getting the media’s attention takes more than just well-crafted words. You must know the do’s and don’ts of pitching, successful storytelling, and what it takes to secure media coverage. Additionally, knowing which types of press best fit your pitches are vital.
“The inbox is daunting, especially with today’s 24/7 news cycle,” said Suzanne Boyd, former TV anchor, media expert, and founder of Suzanne Boyd Productions. “Media professionals get hundreds of e-mails a day, so if it doesn’t stand out it will get passed by. Pitches and headlines need to be concise, catchy, informative, and newsworthy. This event should help direct people in the right direction.”
