NEW YORK, June 1, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- This year, Bodegas Montecillo--Rioja's third oldest winery-- and Cinco Jotas will host the second 'Discovery Week' celebration in New York City, following a successful activation in Miami in 2022. Guests will get the chance to experience and taste Spain's most iconic gastronomic pairing at 9 participating restaurants & bars from June 1st to 11th, 2023: Bodegas Montecillo wines and Cinco Jotas 100% ibérico ham.
Bodegas Montecillo boasts 150 years of authentic winemaking traditions, establishing a reputation for crafting premium Rioja wines. Crafted with patience and authentic winemaking techniques, led by Winemaker Mercedes García Rupérez, Bodegas Montecillo wines embody the different styles of Rioja wines made predominantly with the indigenous grape Tempranillo from the subregion of Rioja Alta.
An emblematic Spanish pairing, Cinco Jotas is the most iconic ibérico brand from Spain world-renowned for the production of premium acorn-fed 100% ibérico ham from Jabugo, Spain. For over 150 years, Cinco Jotas has maintained a natural artisanal production process for all of its ham, preserving expertise and traditions acquired over the span of generations. The ham is cured slowly and naturally through a process that can take up to five years to complete, establishing a reputation as one of Spain's natural treasures.
The parent company of both Bodegas Montecillo and Cinco Jotas –Osborne Group– is a Spanish-based company with more than 250 years of experience, internationally recognized for the artisanal production of food and drink products that offer the ultimate gastronomic experience with authenticity and prestige.
Bodegas Montecillo held a vertical tasting of historic vintages at Jose Andres' award-winning Nubeluz restaurant in New York in February 2023, receiving an incredible response from the sybarite Manhattan media, who were impressed by the award-winning premium quality wines. The team is thrilled to expand on this success and disembark Discovery Week in the same iconic city at reputable restaurants that showcase the best of international gastronomy.
The Discovery Week exclusive deal will include two glasses of Bodegas Montecillo wine, paired with one plate of Cinco Jotas 100% acorn-fed ibérico ham.

About Cinco Jotas
Authentic 100% ibérico ham can only be obtained from pure ibérico-breed pigs. True to its origins, Cinco Jotas has maintained both the purity of the breed and the authenticity of its flavor. The purity of a 100% ibérico pig is determined by its genetic origins. To preserve the breed, only pigs whose mothers and fathers are 100% ibérico have this label and they are verified and registered with the official aeceriber (Spain's Iberian Swine Breeders' Association) stud book.
