WASHINGTON, July 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International and BOMI International, the Independent Institute for Property and Facility Management Education have partnered to release an online course that prepares commercial property managers for a new industry certification and provides a firm foundation for career growth and advancement. Designed to prepare candidates for the Certified Manager of Commercial Properties™ (CMCP™) exam, the self-paced course covers key job functions and skills for a successful career in property management.
The CMCP exam is administered through the Commercial Real Estate Certification Institute™ (CRECI™), an independent certification body established by BOMA International and BOMI International in 2018. To qualify for the exam, property managers must satisfy education and job experience prerequisites and complete 30 hours of industry education. "BOMA and BOMI's CMCP Exam Preparation Course prepares candidates for the CMCP exam and satisfies the 30-hour training requirement all in one step," said Amy Chisholm, CAE, CMP, BOMA International's vice president of Education and Meetings. "The course complements BOMA's popular Foundations of Real Estate Management course and fills a training gap for early-career professionals that has existed in the industry for years," she said.

"The CMCP Exam Preparation Course is ideal for all early-career professionals, whether they pursue CMCP certification now or later," she said. The CMCP Exam Preparation Course is available on BOMI's Learning Portal and is delivered through the Online Self-Paced (OSP) learning experience. According to Bentley, "Utilizing the virtual learning community, learners can work at their own pace—when and where it's convenient for them—with unlimited access to course materials for six months."
The course focuses on all areas covered on the CMCP exam, including accounting and financial management; lease management and execution; building operations and maintenance; internal and external relationships; innovation; service orientation; organization; and communications. Course materials include:
- A tutorial video to highlight course nuances and functionality of the learning portal;
- A 50-question practice exam, which can be taken multiple times;
- A learner guide to help navigate the course and provide recommendations for the length of time to spend in each area;
- A 250-page digital course book, which allows learners to search topics and key word; highlight and take notes; and create flash cards to enhance the learning experience; and
- End-of-section review questions, so learners can tailor their experience based on their scores and understanding of the content.
