Book invites readers to join a family on a journey around the world and discover what it takes to be an ultramarathon runner
Jennie McNeal announces the release of 'Steven: A Runner's Life: An Ultrarunner's Journey'
SUMMERVILLE, Ga., Jan. 28, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jennie McNeal has enjoyed reading books and writing in journals for the last several years. Since her retirement as a medical technologist over a year ago, she has written "Steven: A Runner's Life: An Ultrarunner's Journey" (published by Balboa Press) her first book about her son's journey as an ultramarathon runner. For more details, please visit https://www.amazon.com/Steven-Runner-Life-Ultrarunner-Journey/dp/1982240032.
This book describes Steven's experiences as a runner in different races across the U.S. and Europe as well as his training for these races and Jennie's perspective on the many races she and her husband Jay were able to attend. It also includes several of Steven's own blog posts, posted on the Art of [email protected]. These posts explain his motivation for trail running and his experiences at many of his races. In addition, it includes his discipline where he used a special diet, to avoid stomach cramps and training habits that could be helpful to anyone involved in ultra-running or ultra-sports. It also explains his renovation of an A frame cabin in Oregon while training for the elite Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc race in France.
"The parallels between ultra-running and life have taught me so much, and for that I am thankful. One of those parallels is that we all need other people in our lives sometimes to help us along our journey," Steven says. "I've had some great crew members to support me at a lot of my races, including my wonderful, up-for-almost-anything parents. They've braved the cold and wind often standing at aid stations for hours waiting to see me for a few brief moments. And to have a mom who put together a book about my crazy trail and life antics, I really am truly blessed."
The stories told in "Steven: A Runner's Life: An Ultrarunner's Journey" aims to remind readers of some of their similar good times that were hard earned but yielded dividends and encourage or inspire them to reach further within themselves than they think is possible.
