Book Tells Story of Wealthy Woman’s Marriage to a Naval Academy Graduate
SALISBURY, Md. (PRWEB) July 25, 2018 -- After considerable research, Diana Gillmor discovered the story of her father's parents and their extraordinary life of real life Gatsby couple during first half of 20th century. To her, Gillmor wrote 1946 because she was saddened that their extraordinary story had never been told, even her family had largely forgotten their great success and horrendous misfortunes. “1946: A True Story of Wealth, Extraordinary Success and Great Tragedy” (published by AuthorHouse). The book tells the true story of a wealthy young woman and her marriage to a poor but accomplished naval officer. Told against the backdrop of two devastating world wars, the early history of flight and the meteoric rise of a very small company of just three men, into the ninth largest company in the U.S. The book also tells of the great tragedies that befell the couple and the betrayal of a friendship that ultimately destroys them.
“This book describes the real life of a wealthy young society girl in New York City, not usually written about in the 21st century, the rural young naval officer she marries and the privileged, well-connected life they led in Europe and the United States,” Gillmor says. “It also documents the meteoric transformation of a very small company into a world leader in navigational and guidance systems. One whose instruments are still the foundation of the sea, under-sea and air power and also one that very few Americans today have never heard of.”
“1946: A True Story of Wealth, Extraordinary Success and Great Tragedy” will make readers realize that wealthy people can suffer tragic and devastating events just as the less financially well off do. “The price of engaging in war is far greater than imagined, by both the winners and losers because in the end, everyone actually loses,” Gillmor adds.
