Boston Children's Museum Announces Reopening

We are thrilled to reopen the Museum and once again engage children in joyful discovery experiences. This past year has been very stressful for everyone, especially children who need time to play, explore, and discover in order to stay mentally and physically healthy.

Boston Children's Museum has announced its plan to reopen to the public after being closed since December. The Museum will initially open on Saturdays and Sundays in May, and then with an expanded schedule of Wednesdays through Sundays beginning June 2nd. The Museum is welcoming visitors back by launching the Summer of Play that will offer families a range of fun, hands-on, and social activities that include access to all Museum exhibits including the New Balance Foundation Climb, outdoor programs under the tent, the new Fantastic Forts exhibit, PlaySpace, the new Turtle Tank, and everyday hands-on activities involving science, art, music, and more. The Museum is also offering its first ever Explore It Summer Camp during the month of July.

The Museum will be open in two time slots 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:30-4:30pm with tickets available online. Museum staff and all visitors ages 2 and over will be required to wear masks. For full information on what to expect, parents and caregivers should visit the Museum's website https://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/reopening.

“We are thrilled to reopen the Museum and once again engage children in joyful discovery experiences,” said Carole Charnow, President & CEO of the Museum. “This past year has been very stressful for everyone, especially children who need time to play, explore, and discover in order to stay mentally and physically healthy. We are launching our Summer of Play campaign to emphasize just how important it is to recover the sense of joy and wonder that comes from play.”

During the Museum’s short-term closure to the public, many of the most beloved exhibits were refurbished and refreshed including the New Balance Foundation Climb, Raceways, Bubbles, Peep’s World, and Countdown to Kindergarten.

Boston Children's Museum continues to maintain the highest standards for ensuring a safe and playful experience for staff and visitors. The Museum will continue to follow safety protocols in keeping with State and Federal guidelines, including social distancing and face mask requirements for all visitors ages 2 and over. To manage visitor capacity, admission is only by advance registration and ticketing. Online ticketing begins Friday, April 16, and all visitors, including members, are required to reserve an advance ticket online at https://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/ticketing.

The Museum will continue to offer its extensive online play and learning activities that it has been providing to families over the past year. These resources can be found at https://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/learning-resources
