ABOUT KANSAS R. GOODEN

Kansas Gooden, a Board Certified Appellate Specialist and AV Rated attorney, serves as the firm's Appellate Practice Group Leader. She has extensive experience handling all types of civil appellate proceedings, including extraordinary writs and plenary appeals, in state and federal courts. She also provides litigation and trial support to attorneys throughout the state.

Ms. Gooden is highly involved in state and local bar associations and has served in many leadership roles. Currently, she is on the board of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association as the Third District Representative and serves as the chair of the FDLA Amicus Committee. She serves on the Florida Bar's Appellate Board Certification Committee, which writes and grades the board certification test. She is also an Executive Council member for The Florida Bar's Appellate Section and chair of the Section's CLE Committee. Ms. Gooden is a frequent lecturer and travels the state presenting seminars and presentations on various topics to both attorneys and adjusters.

While in law school, Ms. Gooden interned for the Third District Court of Appeal Chief Judge David Gersten. It was there that she developed her passion for appellate practice. Additionally, Ms. Gooden played nationally competitive junior, amateur and collegiate golf. She was the Virginia State Girls Golf Champion in 1997 and 1999 and was awarded the Marion Miley Bracelet by the Western Women's Golf Association in 1997.

ABOUT BETH-ANN SCHULMAN

Beth-Ann Schulman chairs the firm's Construction Law Group. She is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Construction Law. As such, she is an expert in construction law matters involving construction defects, professional liability, breach of contract, liens and insurance coverage.

Ms. Schulman represents general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and design professionals in all areas of construction law in both a litigation and transactional capacity.

She started her legal construction experience with a nationally recognized construction law firm, where she represented owners and contractors involved in theme park construction, horizontal heavy civil construction projects, and Florida lien claims. Ms. Schulman is experienced in drafting contracts, subcontracts and other construction-related documents.

In 2006, Ms. Schulman started Travelers' Florida staff counsel construction defect litigation practice. At Travelers, Ms. Schulman was the product line lead for the state of Florida and served on the national construction defect leadership board. For four years prior to joining Boyd & Jenerette, Ms. Schulman was in private practice serving the construction industry.

Ms. Schulman is an American Arbitration Association approved Arbitrator, and prior to becoming a licensed attorney worked as a Certified Public Accountant primarily for the construction industry.
