ABOUT J. PATRICK CONNELL
Patrick Connell has successfully litigated a wide range of cases involving catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, professional malpractice, products liability and premises liability. He has significant experience handling trucking and automobile accidents, fire investigations, and natural gas claims.
Land use planning and zoning law is another area of focus for Mr. Connell. He assists clients with government permitting issues at the state, local and municipal levels. Mr. Connell's practical knowledge of land use law began with his study of landscape architecture at the University of Georgia and his work as a city planner for Athens-Clarke County prior to entering law school.
Mr. Connell has significant experience representing clients in the tourism and hospitality industry and serves as General Counsel for the Tourism Leadership Council, the leading trade organization for the tourism industry in the Savannah area.
He is an active supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, having served as Co-chair of the Leadership Committee for Savannah LLS's Man and Woman of the Year campaigns for 2015 and 2016. He began supporting LLS in 2014 when he was nominated and competed as a candidate for Man of the Year. From 2013 to 2018, Savannah's annual Man and Woman of the Year campaigns have raised approximately 3 million dollars to fund blood cancer research and patient assistance programs.
Mr. Connell is admitted in Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Georgia. He was selected to Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2012 to 2017, and was a member of Leadership Savannah, Class of 2013-2014.
ABOUT D. JAY THAW, JR.
Jay Thaw focuses on medical malpractice defense litigation, healthcare facility defense litigation, transportation and logistics, business and general litigation, and governmental affairs policy matters.
Prior to joining Boyd &Jenerette, Mr. Thaw worked with a Savannah firm specializing in professional liability defense. There, he also established a client professional advisory practice. Before moving to Savannah, he served as chief regulatory, policy, and governmental affairs counsel for Mag Mutual Insurance Company in Atlanta. In that role, he established and administered political action committees in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. In addition, he provided guidance to the company in corporate governance and insurance coverage matters. Before joining Mag Mutual, he worked as an attorney at an Atlanta firm, where he represented physician and institutional clients in litigation, public policy, and business matters in a robust trial practice.
Mr. Thaw has tried numerous medical malpractice and insurance defense cases to verdict. His current practice is primarily devoted to the defense of physicians and other professional health care providers. He currently serves as general counsel to the Georgia Nurses Association and provides legal and regulatory counsel to several healthcare industry representative associations.
He is admitted in Georgia and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and is a member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Georgia Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, and the Georgia Motor Trucking Association. Mr. Thaw earned his law degree from Georgia State University and an undergraduate degree in real estate from the University of Georgia. Josh Dorminy is an associate attorney in the Savannah office. He devotes his practice to civil litigation with a focus on auto liability defense as well as bad faith and coverage issues. He is admitted in Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Mr. Dorminy is a native of Darien, Georgia.
